There are 12 - 13 races run each day on Derby Weekend. The first race of the day is typically run around 10:30am and the subsequent races are staggered with approximately 30-45 minutes in between each race.
Gates open early at 8am (ET) with post time for the first Friday race at 10:30am (ET) and approximately 5:45PM* (ET) for the Kentucky Oaks race. Post time for the Kentucky Derby, on the first Saturday in May, is approximately 6:24PM** (ET).

When Do the Main Races Take Place?
The Kentucky Oaks® race is scheduled for 5:45pm on Friday, May 4, 2012.
The Kentucky Derby® race is scheduled for 6:24pm on Saturday, May 5, 2012.
The Kentucky Oaks is generally the second to last race on the Friday before the Derby. The Kentucky Derby race is run 2 races prior to the last race posted on the First Saturday in May.
Post Time Wagering Ticket Provided By Derby Experiences
Upon arriving at your destination, ask your Derby Experiences representative for your wagering card with post times or stop by a Derby Experiences hospitality venue to pick up your card. Example pictured below.
Note: If you have purchased transportation through Derby Experiences, you will arrive to Churchill Downs around 10:00am and will return to your hotel at approximately 7:30pm. Transportation schedules will be provided with your Official Kentucky Derby Ticket Package.
